While Android 12 has already been announced, Realme similar to other smartphone manufacturers is yet to roll out the Android 11 update for its “confirmed” to receive update devices. Yes, the company has started rolling out beta updates to multiple devices, however, only the X50 Pro is the only device to receive the stable update for now.
Moreover, the company had previously shared a timeline for the update rollout schedule of Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11. The roadmap included a bunch of devices and excluded a couple of them as well. While it was presumed that this roadmap corresponded to the first batch of devices, Siddi, an Administrator at the realme community has now confirmed that the excluded devices such as the Realme 5, 5i and the 5s won’t be receiving the update.
The community post reads, “Are devices that are not shown in the realme UI 2.0 roadmap – like realme 5 and 5s be eligible to receive realme UI 2.0 / Android 11?
A. No, devices missing from the roadmap (and that had already been launched when this was shared) will not be receiving realme UI 2.0. They will keep on receiving updates up until the end of their maintenance cycle – but these will be based on Android 10 and for realme UI 1.0.”
The is a disheartening piece of news for the fans and users of the Realme 5, 5s,5i and even the Realme 3 which shipped with Android 9 Pie onboard and as per the company’s policies should have been eligible for at least 2 major OS updates.
That said, instead of generating false hopes for the fans, we’re happy that the company has confirmed about the same. What are your thoughts? Do let us know by dropping a comment down below.
