Realme is set to release their long-awaited flagship device codenamed “Race”. The company has confirmed that it will be hosting a global event on March 4, where they will be announcing the Realme GT 5G smartphone. The company has been teasing the device for the past year, and there have been numerous leaks about the smartphone codenamed ‘Race’. Realme CMO Xu Qi has tipped that the device may launch as the Realme GT, at least in China.
Realme GT 5G to Launch on March 4
Realme has started sending out media invites to the press in China, India and all the global media, revealing the launch date of their upcoming smartphone. The phone will be announced in China at 2 PM (GMT+8) on March 4, while the launch timings of the phone in other countries are still unknown. The poster which they released suggests that the device is named Realme GT 5G.
We could also spot some icons placed at the bottom-left corner of the poster indicating that the smartphone will focus on three key points: the processor, refresh rate, and fast charging.
Madhav Sheth, Vice-President, realme, and CEO, realme India and Europe said, “realme GT is based on our ‘Dare to Leap’ spirit and is an indication of what realme has in place for its users this year. realme GT represents our philosophy of forefront of innovation, design and product value, which is something that young people can resonate with.”
Expected Realme GT 5G Specifications
Realme GT 5G is expected to feature the flagship Snapdragon 888 SoC which was revealed earlier this year along with an OLED panel sporting a fluid 120Hz refresh rate. This device could be Realme’s first flagship to sport the 125W UltraDart fast charging which the company has been teasing for a year. As tipped, the device might be available in plain leather and glass back editions as per a report from Weibo.
Earlier this year, A TENAA listing revealed the model number and some specifications of the device. The device is expected to carry the model number RMX2202 and will feature a 64-megapixel main camera in a rectangle-shaped camera housing. However, for now, the number of camera modules and their detailed specifications remain a mystery. There’s a ‘GT’ logo at the bottom of the rear panel. Moreover, a leak suggests that the device will be available with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB UFS 3.0 internal storage. This device may launch with Realme UI 2.0 based Android 11 out of the box.
